Prices and Specifics On this page you will find the prices and specifics of the five types of services that Junkyard Symphony offers: Super Shows, Wonderful Workshops, Radical Roving, Groovy Games, and a School of Drums and Percussion, all inspired by the reusing and recycling of old materials. Use the buttons above to navigate faster. There is also a section on travel expenses and some information on price deals that Junkyard Symphony offers for clients who are booking more than one show.

Show Specifics Junkyard Symphony's Super Shows involve lots of radical rhythms, terrific tricks, awesome acrobatics, crazy comedy, plenty of audience participation and endless excellent energy. There is very little talking in the shows; most of the communication is through body language and whistle instructions, therefore the shows can be understood anywhere in the world. The crowd is prompted to cheer by a young volunteer who holds up a cheer detergent box and this really gets the audience going. The shows are very interactive as the audience takes part all throughout the performance by clapping to a beat, doing a drum roll on their laps, counting from one to five and somehow always missing the number four, and cheering when the cheer box is held up. Themes such as rhythm and recycling are introduced illustrating how the two are related and are both extremely important to our everyday lives. Terms such as beat and tempo are covered along with dynamics and balance. For holiday shows the performance can take on a theme with appropriate decorations, such as for Halloween and Christmas. The shows can be performed as a duo, trio or quartet. There are several show length options; either 30 min, 40 min, 50 min or 1 hour. It just depends on how much the client has to spend. The 1 hour quartet is the best option. Junkyard Symphony has their own sound system so the client is not required to provide anything other than chairs for adults and if possible one outlet for power. Children can sit on the floor/ground. Pylons will be placed on the floor to indicate the middle isle and the front row. It is best to have the youngest children up front and the oldest children at the back. It is also better to have Junkyard Symphony set up along the shortest side of the performance space. There is nothing offensive or dangerous in the shows. The performers demonstrate some difficult balancing tricks and feats of fitness but they are professionals and never do anything that they cannot easily do. If anything they encourage the children to be more than they can be. The performers remind us that we are all young at heart and there is no harm in being silly. Sometimes we need to just have fun and enjoy life. The shows can be performed in English, French, and Spanish. The shows are suitable for all ages. Many clients are impressed how children as young as 4 and 5 years have their attention fixed on the performers for the entire 50 minutes, or that adults find the show just as entertaining as the kids. Our shows are for everyone to enjoy, and that's the best kind of show there is. There are 5 show categories. Small Space Shows, Large Space Shows, Workshops, Main Stage Shows, and Roving Shows. Participants are each given a hand held junk percussion instrument to play while they watch a fabulously funny juggling/drumming show. Just like all Junkyard Symphony shows, volunteers will get a chance to take center stage and show off. This show is great for birthday parties and small gatherings. Daycare Duo Show length: 30 min Number of artists: 2 Leader: Junkyard Jonny Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: Junkyard Symphony demonstrates that they are still kids themselves as they drum and clown around using reused instruments and props created from the Junkyard. Kids love to join in the funk and jam along with Junkyard Symphony on the junk. This show is suitable for children aged 5 and under, such as in day cares, kindergarten classes and nursery schools. Each participant is given a reused instrument to help feed the rhythm and the most spirited ones will be called upon to come centre stage. Instead of using the traditional recycled drums however, the Circo Eco features a junk bass along with recycled DJ beats to give Junkyard Symphony some instrumental variety. Science of Sound Show length: 60 min Number of artists: 2 Leader: Junkyard Jonny Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: Junkyard Symphony goes in depth into the science of sound and how it is created. Demonstrating what they use for instruments and how they were built, students will be inspired to create their own instruments from reused and recycled objects. Celebrating the Spirit Show length: 45 min or 60 min Number of artists: 2 Leader: Junkyard Jonny Home base: Ottawa Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: In this show the volunteers are preselected. You choose six of your most spirited outgoing people of the group and they are celebrated for the positive energy that they bring to your organisation. They are given junk instruments, funny hats and sun glasses and they do a funny dance to the rhythm . This goes over fabulously if everyone knows each other well. In the 60 min show there is a short discussion on the importance on positive energy in a working environment. Recycled Circus Show length: 60 min Number of artists: 4 to 8 Leader: Junkyard Jonny Set up/tear down time: 45 minutes Description: Junkyard Symphony's most exciting show, the Recycled Circus is a wonderful spectacle that mirrors Stomp and Cirque du Soleil. Using their largest junk setup, this quartet of amazing drummers, jugglers and acrobats demonstrate the wonderful wonders of rhythm and circus arts through junk drumming, jug juggling, ladder balancing, club swinging, cup stacking, and even trampoline jumping, all to the beat of the junk. There is an environmental message too: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rock! Of course there is always lots of crowd participation as well. Volunteers will learn how to drum, go-go dance, and play the spoons. This is a spectacular show that will blow your mind! Junkyard Symphony brings out a big gogo dancing stage along with a cool junk drumset and invites audience members to come up to show their stuff as they dance and drum along to fun DJ music. Workshop Options & Prices Workshops (Schools, Daycamps, Companies) Rhythm and Recycling Show length: 60 min Number of artists: 1 Leaders: Junkyard Jonny Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: In the Rhythm and Recycling Workshop a smaller portable drum set is used so the workshop can fit into a classroom or library space. Participants learn the importance of rhythm in music and life. In a drum circle fashion using reused materials for percussion instruments Junkyard Symphony teaches the basics of rhythm, such as tempo, beat, dynamics, quarter notes, eight notes, half notes, whole notes as well as syncopated rhythms. Add in a cheer box and a few rhythmic games and the workshop becomes a 'Stomp' for students. The importance of recycling and the Four R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rock is covered as students learn how to have fun while helping the earth. Take some elements from basketball, handball, lacrosse and the Gong show, and then add a dum kit, a whole team of players and what you get is "Rhythm Ball". Four to six people play on the court at a time, but all the rest still play in the game from the sidelines, then they rotate. It's innovative and imaginative and it's so much fun you must absolutely try this new sport. This workshop is great for grades 4 and up. In the first hour the students play the games, have fun and get inspired. In the second hour students are encouraged to get their creative juices going by designing their own game. Game Specifics Junkyard Symphony's Groovy Games involve lots of innovative ideas, creative constructions, radical rules, dashing dimensions, ravishing resources and bodaciously big boards. The games are approxomately the size of a kitchen table and can be easily set up in a living room, basement, classroom or board room. The games are made from reused materials, and while they are quite functional, they are also quite a work of art. A facilitator accompanies the game to set it up, tear it down and to instruct the players during the game. The age range for the games starts at age 6 and up. Some games are more suitable for adults while some are better for children. You will love the 3 dimensional aspect of the game for never before have board games been so big and so fun. Not only is Rock Towers fun to play, but it's also a work of art, and eco-friendly. Hand made from wood that has been discarded and recovered by Junkyard Symphony, Rock Towers keeps with the Junkyard Symphony ethic of reusing junk. Marble Mountain Game length: 60 min Number of artists: 1 Leaders: Junkyard Jonny, Sustainable Sally Home base: Ottawa Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: In this game a player places a marble in the mansion at the top of Marble Mountain. The marble rolls down a long winding track through the mansion and down the mountain eventually falling into a marble catcher at the bottom. The marble catcher has crator holes with various point values which will determine how far the player's character will move along a path that leads to the top of the mountain. The point of the game is to get to the top of the mountain in as few turns as possible. There are many fun adventures along the way. Will be finished for July 2013) Game length: 60 min Number of artists: 1 Leaders: Junkyard Jonny, Sustainable Sally Home base: Ottawa Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: Chateau Roulette is a new, fun, and creative version of roulette! In this game, marbles are dropped down three towers of an extravagant castle finding their way to the bottom through many different marble tracks. The idea of the game is to guess where the marbles will land and to move your player along the board for every correct guess. There are bottles that can block the marbles and cans that can catch them. There is even an epic 16 marble multi-ball that is triggered when a marble falls down a hole. Bottle Ball Game length: 60 min Number of artists: 1 Leaders: Junkyard Jonny, Sustainable Sally Home base: Ottawa Set up/tear down time: 30 minutes Description: Bottle ball is the opposite of bowling. Instead of rolling a large ball to knock over pins, the player rolls a large marble through a series of bottles without trying to hit them. The farther the ball goes, the more points the player gets. A workshop in Creating Creativity is also available using Bottle Ball. See workshop section above for details. Space needed: Living room or basement. Ages: 4 and up Price: $75 when you book any Junkyard Symphony show. Free when you rent Rock Towers, Marble Mountain or Chateau Roulette. Each additional hour is half price.

Taxes 13% HST will be added to the price for shows in Ontario. For shows in the rest of Canada, 5% GST will be added. There are no taxes for shows outside of Canada. Late Fee Payment should be made on the day of performance by cheque or cash payable to Junkyard Symphony. Cheques may be mailed after the show but a $25 late fee will be added. Travel Costs We charge 25 cents per km from the Ottawa, so if your show is 200km away, it will be 400km there and back and will cost $100 for travel. Each show description (above) tells whether the show is based in Ottawa, Montreal or both. We use Mapquest to calculate driving times. There will also be accomodations charges if we are required to stay overnight. Example: Travel costs from Ottawa to Kitchener, Onatrio would be $300 Gas (6 hours) and $112 hotel (average cost for one night, 2 persons) = $412 total travel costs. Minimum Service Charge for Distance Shows If the show you desire costs less than the minimum service charge for your area (see chart below), you will have to pay the minium service charge plus travel expenses as well. Another alternative is to find other organisations in your area to partner with so that the total service charge between the organisations is at least the minimum service charge or greater. This will allow you to pay the regular price of the show, plus a discount of up to 10%. As well, all organiations can share the travel costs. In the event of cancellation after the cutoff date , because of rain or any other reason, the client must pay half price. The client may cancel with no obligations prior to the cutoff date. In the event that Junkyard Symphony cancels before the cutoff date, Junkyard Symphony will offer the client a show of the same value at a later date for half price. In the event that Junkyard Symphony cancels at any time after the cutoff date Junkyard Symphony will offer the client a show at a later date for free. Junkyard Symphony may be forced to end outdoor shows early because of unsuitable weather. In this case the client will be offered a price reduction on a future show. Contract Information A contract will be emailed to you to sign in order to solidify your booking. You can return in by mail or by scanning. Sorry, but we don't use fax. Please provide the following for the contract: the date, time, location and evironment of your event (indoors, outdoors, gym, hall, classroom etc.). Please also provide your contact information: name, phone number, email, cell phone. Lastly we will need the size and age of your audience.

Price Deals The first show is full price but each additional show on the same day in the same location will be 50% off. 5% discount off the total contract for each additional day of shows up to a maximum of 20% discount. If another client nearby is found to have a second show on the same day, both clients will receive a 5% discount off the show price. If three or more clients book together, all clients will receive a 10% discount off the show price. The client organising this booking will recieive 10% off the price of their show for each client involved in the booking. For example, if a school can organise a tour of 10 schools, the school will have a free show. Travel cost will still be necessary for the organising client but the cost will be split among all the clients. If you are having a fundraiser or cannot afford our full price you can receive up to $100 discount -> $1 discount for every person you can get to sign up on our facebook fanpage during a 24 hour period of your choice.
