In a workshop/show style, Junkyard Symphony teaches the basics of rhythm and recycling. Volunteers learn about the four R’s of waste reduction, the basics of rhythm as they bang on buckets, honk on horns, play with plunger poms, dance on a disco stage, and ultimately discover that rhythm is truly a universal language. This show is great for corporate and community events, schools, day camps, family reunions.
Duration: 60 minutes. Maximum 350 participants.
Background
The Recycle Rock show show was created in the summer of 2000, when Junkyard Jonny became ill one day and couldn't perform any of his tricks, so he decided to do a workshop instead. The workshop gathered quite a crowd and soon became a show. This gave Jonny the idea to create a workshop/show that would feature the audience as the focus rather than himself. The concept works great, especially in environments where the audience all know each other, like schools or corporate parties. It's fun to see the people you know do silly things.
